Psychiatrist Warned Andrea Yates Against A 5th Child
Andrea Yates was back in court yesterday as part of her retrial. Her 2002 murder conviction was overturned due to erroneous witness testimony. Click here to see my previous post on this.
It was reported in the news that a psychiatrist Yates had been seeing warned her not to have a fifth child. Following is an excerpt from the article - click here for the full article:
A psychiatrist testified Friday that she warned Andrea Yates not to have any more children after she tried to commit suicide twice within months of having her fourth child in 1999.The defense attorneys are trying to prove that Yates was insane at the time she committed these horrible crimes. Prosecutors have said all along that she does not meet the state's definition of insanity. My take is that she was fully aware of what she did and not insane. I still feel no pity for her and still hope she gets life in a prison psychiatric ward for what she did"I could pretty much predict that Mrs. Yates would have another episode of psychosis," Dr. Eileen Starbranch told jurors in Yates' second murder retrial.
