Pedophilia Hysteria?

Final post of the night. This is a sad story on many levels.

Any thoughts on this story about the idea that there is a pedophilia hysteria in the world that is affecting society's willingness to help children? I think there is something to this.

There seem to be more and more people who jump at any opportunity to create a problem out of nothing to get attention, a quick buck or any other motive. Some of this is plain ignorance, but I think much of it is the fact we are a much more aggressive and everyone for themselves society. The more people who create issues, the more people who get reluctant to put themselves in any situation that could bring about any negative reprecussions. Society needs to come to a realization that there is a breaking point and we need each other to function. The further we go down the current path we are on, the more innocent people - like the child in this story - will be affected.

I think that it's a shame that it has to come down to this. Who cares what other people think, if you're doing the right thing. If he had picked up this girl or even just stopped for a mintue and called the police, she might still be alive today. It's sad that our society doesn't want to stop and help anyone for fear of the repurcussions.
