Missing Milwaukee Boys - UPDATE
There is new information on a missing children post I did about a month ago.
There is a website that was created for these boys by friends and family. Per the website:
The bodies of Quadrevion Henning, 12, and Purvis Virginia Parker, 11, were recovered last evening, April 14th, from a lagoon in McGovern Park.As of right now, the website is offering no further information on the case. The website does request that we all:
Please pray for Quadrevion, Purvis, and their families.I concur and request the same - Please keep these families and children in your thoughts and prayers. We often forget how quickly and innocently life can be taken away, by mistake or intentionally.
Per an article on CNN,
The first body was discovered Friday night by a man and his son who were walking through the park and saw the body floating on the water, she said. The second body was found a short time later. In another article on Channel3000, it does not appear that foul play has occurred.
Milwaukee police do not suspect foul play in the deaths of two boys whose bodies were recovered from a park lagoon near where they disappeared almost a month ago, Chief Nan Hegerty said Saturday.(Hat tip to
If you review the information below, I am confused as to how these two boys could have drowned in a lagoon on a pond that is not more than 5 feet deep, and a majority of it less than 3 feet deep, when both boys should - based on averages - be almost 4.5 feet tall. Odds would be that they should have easily been able to walk or swim out if one or both fell in. Perhaps they fell into the deepest part of the pond and the 6" difference was enough to overtake them. I am interested in any further information that may come out regarding this case, so if you come across anything please let me know.
This is a tragedy no matter how you swing the pendulum and my heart goes out to the boys and their families. R.I.P. boys.
Some added info and links:
According to Lake-Link the McGovern Park Pond is 5 square acres with a max depth of 5 feet.
Per the Wisconsin DNR the total water area as of their sonar mapping in 1970 was 4.6 acres and 41% of the pond was under 3 feet deep with a max depth of 4.5 feet.
4'6" and 65lbs is about average for an 11 year old boy (as derived from a post on Dietitian.com)
According to FAQ Farm,
The average height of a male in America who just turned 12 is about 4'11". This means that if you took 100 boys who were 12, the average height (50th percentile) would be about 4'11". 90% of boys this age will be between 4'5" and 5'4".
