Drunk Mother Suffocates Baby By Mistake While Breastfeeding
Hawkins had been drinking at a bowling alley in February 2005, and after her husband dropped her and the child off at home, she started breastfeeding the baby but fell asleep, a criminal complaint said.The father was probably going out for more drinks and wanted to drop off the drunken baggage and his child before he went to the bar. I wouldn't think it would be a good idea to breastfeed while drunk in the first place. I cannot imagine it would be good for the baby? The mother was probably too drunk to get a bottle heated up. And if she would have sat in the father's Lazy-Boy recliner he would have beaten her when he got back from the bar. This stupidity pisses me off.
Prosecutor John Jorgensen said he would recommend that she receive at least some prison time.Ya think!?! He's an idiot too. She should serve lots of prison time and have to go around the country to schools and community centers telling parents her story to show what can happen as a result of drinking. Parents need to show more responsibility than they have been as of lately - their children would appreciate it too."We just believe she should be held accountable for the neglect," he said.
